How SAF Production Unlocks Greater Fuel Supply Resilience
SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) production activates three interconnected mechanisms that improve fuels supply in the market where SAF is produced it: (1) adds renewable naphtha directly to the gasoline blending pool; (2) allows petroleum refineries to shift their yield slate away from jet fuel production and toward more gasoline; and (3) frees inbound infrastructure capacity for other fuels by displacing petroleum jet fuel logistics. These mechanisms compound. A market that produces SAF does not just substitute one jet fuel molecule for another — it reshapes the economics and logistics of the entire transportation fuel system.
